Carnegie Children's Book Award
Ten students in Years eight and nine have been shadowing the Carnegie book prize for the last three months. This involved reading the shortlisted books, discussing and sharing them in the group and deciding which one to vote for. We did not arrive at a group decision, so the 'Scalby Shadowers' submitted their own votes individually and chose a broad selection from the shortlist. Today we watched a livestream of the event from the British Library in London with a lunch laid on by the school. The winning novel nationally was 'October, October' by Katya Balen.
All of the books on the shortlist are available to loan from the school library.
