A good percentage of students who attend Scalby School live outside the traditional admission zone.

Scalby School runs our annual Open Day Event in September each year. Check out local press and our website and social media feeds from August for further details.

Admissions Application Process

Application to register a preference must be made to the local Education Offices. If your child attends a local Primary School and is in his/her final year, the Education Office will contact you and offer you a choice. Follow this link to the North Yorkshire Council Website.

Coast and Vale Learning Trust follows North Yorkshire Council’s agreed timetable for admission appeals.

Key dates

12 September 2025 - secondary application round opens for entry in September 2026

You can apply for a secondary school place for children born between 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2015.

31 October 2025 - deadline to apply

31 October 2025 is the closing date for online and paper applications. The closing date for providing evidence of exceptional social or medical reasons is also 31 October 2025.

30 November 2025 - last date for changes

No changes can be made to an application after 30 November 2025. Any change or late application after this date will be actioned after National Offer Day.

2 March 2026 - National Offer Day

2 March 2026 is National Offer Day for secondary school. If you applied online, you can log in to our admissions portal to see your offered school place. You will also get an email during office hours telling you about your offered place. If you made a paper application, you should get a letter telling you about your offered school place.

16 March 2026 onwards - changes made to the allocation

From 16 March 2026 onwards, we will consider any late applications or requests for changes to applications that we have not already processed.

13 April 2026 - deadline for admission appeals

If you want to appeal for a secondary school place, you need to submit your appeal by 13 April 2026.

April 2026 to July 2026 - bulk admission appeal hearings

Main secondary school admission appeals will be heard from April to July 2026.

31 December 2026

All the waiting lists we hold will end on 31 December 2026.


The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Section 94) gives you the right to appeal the LEA’s decision should your child be refused a place. If you wish to appeal against a decision relating to admissions please contact you Local Education Office who will send you a Notice of Appeal form and details about what to do next.
