Latest Careers Information 2023-24

Post-16 Funding

Funding may be available from some colleges in the form of bursaries. Please contact the colleges to find out if bursaries are on offer, and if you are eligible.

Post-16 Transport Assistance

Some students may be eligible to apply for travel assistance. Information and application forms are available at or by contacting North Yorkshire County Council on 0845 872 7374. Applications for assistance usually open in April or May each year, but you can ring for general advice before this time.

Students can apply for more than one course if they're not sure, they only need to register once. Also, we recommend students use a personal email address when registering, not a school one, so that College can contact them after they have left school.

These websites provide students and parents with information and advice relating to career paths and jobs.

Please be aware that course and career information is constantly changing. Please make sure you look for the date on any career related article that you read and if you are in any doubt please speak with the Careers Advisor.

Start is an online program enabling students to set up their own account and explore their interests, skills and qualities. Having set up their profile, students will be linked to suggested courses and career pathways. This is a useful website for finding out about many career ideas together with useful videos and links to current local vacancies

A website dedicated to STEM careers, Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

A guide to careers via zones in which students can research their ideas covering Apprenticeships, school leaver programs and degrees. Very useful for future planning.

This central government website provides access to independent professional advice on careers, skills and the labour market for anyone aged 13 and over. There are features on this website including “What will the jobs of the future look like?” and a quiz to help you identify how your skills and qualifications could match the future job market.

This website provides information about apprenticeships for students, parents and employers, and includes a list of current apprenticeship vacancies. It is a good idea to visit the site and create a user name and password and it is recommended that students in year 11 should start to apply for vacancies early in the spring term
